Car history:
This is an NCRS candidate, 1964 Corvette roadster project, original California car with a mint, rust-free, pit-free frame and a very nice body, also rust-free, with original California black plates. The original owner's manual is in the glovebox as is the original hardtop wrench. It came from the factory as a "softtop delete" car (hardtop only, deck has not been drilled for softtop mounting) with a 365hp 327 and a 4 speed, Ermine White with red interior, power brakes with metallic shoes. This car spent it's life in southern California until about 1982 when it moved to west Texas. It had around 59,000 miles on it when it was disassembled for a restoration that never materialized. The original pads are on the clutch and brake pedals and are consistent with this mileage. The mint, rust-free frame has been lightly sandblasted and painted black and the body has been set back on it.

The body is very straight, with only a few repairs needed, the original white paint has been stripped in places, but most of it remains. There is a crack at a bonding seam where the taillight panel mates to the rear deck panel. There is a crack in the RF corner of the hood opening. There is some prior damage around the RF parking light and two small cracks in the RF wheel opening. The hardtop is in great shape as is the rear window and the headliner inside is excellent. Please see the pictures, this is an honest car, nothing to hide.

It is a very complete and correct car and includes some new parts in boxes bought for the restoration, including Al Knoch seat covers and carpet. There are boxes and boxes of parts with this car, lots of hard to find stuff that you typically have to search for and purchase to complete an NCRS restoration on one of these cars. There are a few things that are known to be missing like the distributor and fan. There are also some things that are thought to be here, but may be missing as we haven't accounted for them yet, such as the hubcaps, seatbelts, main driveshaft, and flywheel. We're still looking through stuff, so more stuff may turn up, but as of now those parts are missing.

This car has the original, numbers-matching-block 365hp 327 engine that has been rebuilt and is ready to go (has non-numbers-matching '67 350hp double hump heads), and the original numbers-matching 4 speed transmission (needs to be rebuilt) and correct shifter. There are actually two 4 speeds here, one has a rebuilt tag on it (Brown's Transmission Service, Bakersfield, CA) and has the Corvette tailhousing on it, the other has the numbers-matching case, so it appears that someone installed a rebuilt trans but used the tailhousing off the trans from this car, and then kept the original numbers matching transmission which presumeably needs to be rebuilt. The engine was rebuilt by R-T Machine, a very reputable and meticulous early small block Chevy expert in Taylor, TX. When the engine was rebuilt a hydraulic cam was installed for ease of maintenance. The correct deep-groove pulleys are there as is the correct air cleaner, 6 qt. oil pan and finned harmonic balancer. There is a Holley carburetor there, but not sure if it is the correct original carb or not.

The car is in the condition that is has been partially, but not completely, disassembled for restoration, paint stripping was begun and then life got in the way. Basically, the parts removed were the parts required to facilitate removal of the body from the frame to begin the restoration. The grille, headlight assemblies, door glass assemblies, dash, seats and AM/FM radio are all still in the car, original red seat covers are on the seats and new Al Knoch seat covers are included in boxes, original dashpad is in the car but has a few cracks, original wiring harness still in the car, new carpet is in the box, original door panels are still mounted. The body is sitting on the frame on a rollaround dolly. Car has original and correct 2 1/2" exhaust manifolds, 6500 rpm redline mechanical tach with cable, intake manifold, air cleaner, spare tire bucket with tray, and wheels. The trim tag and serial # tag are in place and untouched. The body has been inspected for rust in the metal superstructure and found to be rust-free. The windshield is cracked, door glasses are good. The two sets of license plates pictured are the only two sets that this Corvette has ever worn. This is a very nice, solid car, around 59,000 original miles, only 2 titled owners, much more complete and correct than most projects, and will be a fun project and a great car for someone.
